What is telehealth counseling? What are the benefits?
Telehealth counseling means we will connect via video or phone instead of in-person for our counseling session. When we cannot meet in person due to health concerns and other factors, telehealth can be a great way to continue growth, healing, and processing life and relationship events. Many people are surprised by the effectiveness and personal nature of telehealth sessions. Telehealth also allows for scheduling flexibility and convenience of therapy from your home.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Telehealth Private?
By no means :) You can use a laptop computer or a mobile device (like a cell phone or tablet) for our telehealth video sessions, as long as the device has a camera and mic to receive audio. I use headphones with a mic to ensure privacy on our end and I recommend clients do the same to keep their own conversations private as well.
The Telehealth platform I use, Google Hangouts (business level), is private and secure, following all guidelines for client privacy as required by HIPAA (The Health Information Portability and Accessibility Act). I cannot guarantee privacy on your end, and that is something we can discuss and figure out together during our consultation call.
Do I need to have a laptop or special equipment?
How do I log onto our telehealth appointment?
If you are using a laptop or PC with a camera and microphone, all you'll need to do is click the link you receive in your email from me and the video platform (where we do the video call) will load. If you are using a mobile device, you will need to download the Google Hangouts App.
